Rare Scans #3 (US-March 3rd 1981)

Here is an article that I don't believe has appeared online before. This is from the March 3rd 1981 issue of US magazine and includes an extraordinary shot of Nastassja and Klaus that rarely pops up. I don't much care for the smarmy tone of the article but it does contain some fascinating quotes by Nastassja on Polanski and TESS that makes it well worth posting. Please click on each image to enlarge and again I apologize for the poor quality of these.

It was an interesting read, but I do agree with you about the tone. I did like the pic of Klaus and Nastassja. I've always been a fan of his as well as of her. I enjoy seeing pics of them together.

I debated on whether to post this because of the writer's kind of snide attitude but I though the quotes and photos made it worthwhile...thanks for commenting

Thanks for sharing all these great scans Jeremy!

I've found myself defending Polanski a lot in recent years and it's become a bit strange to announce that he's one of my favorite directors. I'm always expecting people to come after me for it. Naturally women seem to be especially critical of him.

I can only judge Poalnski by my own personal experiences and from what I've read about the notorious "incident." I will say that when I was 14 I used to lie to 18 year old boys and tell them I was an adult and they believed me. It was a stupid and dangerous thing to do, but I did it.

Thanks Kimberly for your comments.
I too find myself defending Polanksi a lot. It's really frustrating as some people only see him in this one light, for one mistake he made that has been explained so many times.
I love the guy and his films...he has been through some horrible tragic stuff and has remained strong. Some people will just never get it and will continue to ignore his films..that is really their loss.
Thanks for commenting.

I almost cringe anytime I mention Polanski because I'm not sure of the reaction I will get. I've found myself having to defend him against quite a few people. Whatever mistakes he did or did not make, he's still a brilliant filmmmaker. This article was definitely a hatchet job, but I think the pics, etc. make up for that. Thanks for posting it.

It's really a shame people can't look past a very explainable mistake and see how important his contributions to cinema have been.
Thanks for the further comments...
